As a tactical planning and navigation solution, Achilleus 3D aims to provide users with advanced capabilities essential for mission execution. Notably, the app employs 3D terrain visualization alongside real-time data integration, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment.

It supports various online and offline map sources including Virtual Earth, Google Satellite, and OpenStreetMap. Users can cache map and elevation data automatically for offline access. The app also utilizes military grid reference systems such as MGRS and USNG.

In terms of navigation capabilities, Achilleus 3D provides both 2D and 3D navigation options. Users can draw routes to destinations while monitoring their current speed, distance traveled, and estimated time of arrival. Real-time GPS tracking is also available.

The newly introduced network feature allows users to efficiently share map statuses and communicate seamlessly via TCP/IP. This setup negates the need for an external server. Users can either operate their iOS device as a server or connect as a client within a local area network. Notably, while connected to cellular networks, local area networks cannot be hosted from an iOS device; using Wi-Fi is recommended in such cases.

A comprehensive library of Joint Military Symbology (MIL-STD-2525D/APP6X) is integrated into the app for enhanced tactical mapping capabilities. Furthermore, users can access an array of solar and lunar information based on their location, which is also available offline.
